Submit a proposal to the Board of Education and District IT Coordinator that makes an argument for what type of Internet usage you want in the hands of your students and teachers in terms of social media websites.

 *Parents  *Community Members  *Teachers  *Students  * School Board  * IT Coordinator

WWhat broad types of websites should be blocked? SShould social media sites be blocked or permissible? SShould teachers have different access levels than students?  Should YouTube be allowed? Pandora? Tumblr? Twitter? Pinterest? Instagram? Facebook? Goodreads? Vine? Blogger? Skype? Picasa? Flickr? Others?

Are there certain social media sites that are dangerous to students or inhibit learning? Should this particular age group (middle school) have special consideration due to their age and needs? Do we need a 21 st century approach when considering education and technology? Do the educational benefits of using/allowing social media in the classroom outweigh the dangers or potential problems?

Construct a written argument. You must support your claims with research, you must use logical reasoning, and you must address potential counterclaims and rebut them. This is an argumentation. You must submit a works cited page.

Present your argument orally/visually in front of an audience. This might take the form of a PowerPoint type of presentation. You must support your claims with research, you must use logical reasoning, and you must address potential counterclaims and rebut them. This is an argumentation. You must submit a works cited page.

Create a video proposal. This might involve a creative approach with film techniques, words, and graphics. Or it might be simply a video of you talking. It could include you interviewing people, showing students working with 1:1 technology, etc. The possibilities are endless. You must support your claims with research, you must use logical reasoning, and you must address potential counterclaims and rebut them. You must submit a works cited page.
