Making comparisons When we watch a film we always compare it with something we have seen, watched, heard or read before. Its not just the story or characters that might remind us of something we have already seen. Different parts of a text can be compared – thinking about the actors, the music or the setting can tell us a lot about a film.

Making comparisons A film might remind us of something in our own lives. This makes us think about how we would behave in similar circumstances. If we can relate to a story then we usually understand it much better.

Making comparisons You will be shown two film posters. You may have seen one or both of the films and you might recognise the actors. Compare the posters and see if you can find at least two similarities between them. If possible you could also use the internet to find out about the films.
