2 Buoy Network Status Maps Maps for previous month Full sized maps and Map archive with links to PDFs and Google Earth Files

Network growth over time

Daily Status Maps Dynamic map, updated daily in a web map view and as a Google earth file:

Daily Status Maps Dynamic map, updated daily in a web map view and as a Google earth file: Spanish and Italian Moorings are now on the map

Daily Status Maps Dynamic map, updated daily in a web map view and as a Google earth file:

Buoys by Country 7

Pilot Projects 75 Iridium buoys active in 2010 (out of ~200) – Still mostly European – JouBeh (Canada), CLS and Meteo France operationally processing iridium buoys 9 Argos-3 Buoys active (out of 26 deployed)

Global Observations Now including Wind and Wave observations and Currents (position only)

10 Information Exchange New web site Publications –DBCP Annual Report 2009 (nearly completed) –DBCP 25 Meeting and Workshop (nearly completed) –New document on QC for GTS centres, including Iridium processing centres (Document 37)

11 Deployment opportunities Updates via the monthly to the DBCP community. New-ish opportunities: –The DART Tsunami buoy deployment and maintenance cruises will provide an ongoing opportunity in the Pacific and Central Atlantic oceans. Cruise planning is completed each year by NDBC.

12 GTS Delays Shows how (1) Iridium improves delays in the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and (2) how Argos-3 may not improve delays for now. (1) Iridium Buoys in the Indian Ocean have delays below 60 mins and lower than adjacent Argos buoys (2) Argos-3 buoys have not yet demonstrated improvements in delays in the Pacific Ocean

OceanSITES status Most data will be on GTS Adopted GDACs With a lot of data now available: –Via GDAC FTP areas: -IFREMER Coriolis (FTP). ftp://ftp.ifremer.fr/ifremer/oceansites/IFREMER Coriolis ftp://ftp.ifremer.fr/ifremer/oceansites/ -US NDBC (FTP). ftp://data.ndbc.noaa.gov/data/oceansites/US NDBC ftp://data.ndbc.noaa.gov/data/oceansites/
