Page2 At about 7:46 am on October 17, 2006 America’s 300 millionth citizen was born. Because of the large number of births, deaths and immigrants, it is hard to tell exactly who was the 300 millionth citizen. The Census Bureau estimates one new American citizen is added every 11 seconds. Only two countries in the world have more citizens than the United States. Those countries are China with 1.3 billion people and India with 1 billion people. I enjoyed reading this article. I can not believe how many people there are in our country and in the world!

Page3 The price of a barrel of crude-oil reached a record high price of $ Since crude oil is used to make gasoline and home heating oil it will be more expensive to buy those things. If people have to spend more money on gas and heating oil they may not have enough money to buy other things like clothes. Gas prices have gone up a lot in the last couple years. I hope the price of gas starts to come down again.

Page4 On October 23 a comet named 17P/Holmes suddenly became so bright you can now see it without a telescope. Scientists think the comet may have exploded and gases are trailing the comet making it appear very bright. They think we should be able to see the comet for the next several weeks. I would like to learn more about comets. What are they made of? Weekly

Page5 The town of Orme, Tennessee is only allowed to use water for 3 hours a day. People can shower, cook and fill up containers of water from 6 pm till 9 pm, and the rest of the day they have no water at all. A fire truck goes to Alabama and bring water back to the Orme three times a week. The town wants everyone to know how important it is to conserve water. We should all think more about conserving water and other resources. dyn/content/article/2007/11/07/AR html
