Nicole Mills took bronze in the individual competition. You really met the challenge and have proven that you cadets have what it takes. We may still be waiting to bring home the trophies but we have made our presence known and will be out there next year stacking up the wins. Also a big congratulations to the Rifle Team for their win at Kansas City and to Nicole Mills for her individual medal. We still have some work to do – both on the respect and discipline side, and on “improving our minds and our bodies”. Nothing in life that is really worth having is easy. LTC (R) Blalock Important Events and Dates : Feb. 8 th Knob Noster drill meet, Apr. 4-5 Air Capital Raider meet, Apr. 11 th -12 WMA Raider meet, Apr.17 th JROTC Award Night, Apr. 19 th Fredericktown Raider meet, and Apr. 25 th FLW Raider meet Rifle will be taking a break from practices so that the cadets can focus on Drill and Raiders. Drill will be having practice Tuesday Wednesday and Friday evenings. Cadets are encouraged to attend all of them and it is required for them to attend at least two days of practice unless they have a valid excuse. Drill has been working really hard to memorize and perfect the commands. Raider practice will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings we would appreciate it if cadets on the team would attend at least three practices. The cadets are really shaping up and seem eager to learn new things we love seeing the dedication and effort they put out. %

Parents, I just wanted to get a chance to introduce myself to the new parents to JROTC. My name is Sergeant First Class John Biddle. I retired from the Army after 24 years of service in I did some civilian contract work in Iraq and Afghanistan for a couple of years before being selected to work at Clinton HS as a JROTC instructor. I was in Air Force JROTC when I was in high school and I enjoyed it immensely. JROTC was my favorite class in high school with all the extra-curricular activities I participated in. Although JROTC is based on Army standards, students are not obligated to join the military service. Students are encouraged to participate in after school activities such as Color Guard, Raider Team, Rifle Team, and Exhibition Drill Team. These programs require many hours of hard work, commitment and dedication. If your student isn’t participating in at least one of these activities, then they are missing out on a great opportunity to have more fun, than they realize. JROTC is not like your normal high school class. It can be very fun and rewarding at the same time. SFC (R) Biddle
