My Community Services By William Stinchcomb

Victory for Victoria  The Victory for Victoria was a special thing to me.  I have done something similar to it while in high school. When I did it in high school I really enjoyed it.  The Victory for Victoria was a race to raise money for the family of Victoria.

Victory for Victoria con’t  The reason for the race was for a little girl who had cancer.  She had been fighting for sometime when the race was getting put together.  There were three races going on that day.  There was a 5K, 10K, and a one mile fun run.  I did the one mile fun run. I am not much of a runner I just wanted to help out.

American Red Cross  I helped out the VSU ROTC blood drive during the spring semester.  While there, I helped people sign in and got them started on the process of giving blood.  Once the blood drive was over, I helped the people from the red cross clean up and load up there truck.

American Red Cross cont.  I helped out because it was something that needed to be done. I also was not able to give blood at the time.  I was just trying to help out because every pint of blood can save up to three lives.  Another reason I help or give blood is because I know there are people right now that could use it. I also now that there are men and women in the Iraqi desert that could need it.

Second Harvest Food Bank  A group of friends and I went to the Second Harvest food bank.  We went to do community services for Arnold Air Society. I also went to help out those who needed food.  We got there and started out by having to watch a movie about how to work there.

Second Harvest Food Bank cont.  Then we went to work doing what they needed done at the food bank.  We started out by stocking food on shelves.  Then a couple of other people and myself restacked a platform. That was all we did inside.

Second Harvest Food Bank cont.  When we got outside we had to do a couple of things.  The first was we had to go around and pick up all of the trash around their building.  Then we had to wash their 18 wheeler.  That was hard, but fun and it really needed it.

Arnold Air Society Trash Pick Up  On April 18, some of the active Arnold Air members picked up trash between North Campus and Main Campus along Patterson.  It is something we do every semester.  We do it to help keep the city clean.  It is part of Adopt a Highway Program.

Community Services  I think community service is something every one should do.  There are many reasons why people should do community service.  The first reason is for people to see what unfortunate people have to go through, and maybe that will have people help out more.

Community Services cont. BBBBy doing community service people will get a chance to get out and help. IIIIt will also make people do a little work. IIIIt will also give people a chance to give back something to their community.

Reason’s I did Community Service  I did community service for many reasons.  I did a good little bit of community service in high school and enjoyed doing it.  It was always fun to get with a group of friends and put a car wash on for a person who needed it.  It was also fun trying to get more canned food than every one else for the local food bank.  The most important reason for doing community service is to help others.
