Christie’s Passion – AMVs Animated Music Videos

What is it? In a nutshell, it’s a video made out of an animated movie (most of the time something from Disney), it’s clips matching to a certain song’s lyrics.

How? It’s pretty simple. Find an song which lyrics match the plotline of the movie, and then make a video to it, matching the related clips with the music. For example…

The Lion King – Sound the Bugle The song Sound the Bugle has lyrics which pretty much match up to the movie The Lion King’s plotline…Simba is sad and depressed after his father’s death. ‘Sound the bugle now - play it just for me As the seasons change - remember how I used to be Now I can't go on - I can't even start I've got nothing left - just an empty heart I'm a soldier - wounded so I must give up the fight There's nothing more for me - lead me away... Or leave me lying here’ But then his father encourages him to regain his place as king…And remember who he really is. ‘Then from on high - somewhere in the distance There's a voice that calls - remember who you are. ‘

How to make one… OK, so if you’re interested, and what to at least try it out or something, here’s how. Every Windows computer has Windows Movie Maker – a program to create AMVs, actually. It’s not that great but hey, it’s free. To find it, go to Start ->

Step 2. When WMM’s open, just import your movie and your songs and have fun with the effects! To get movies, you can rent/buy them and Rip them, meaning to copy the movie out from the disc. Programs for these are almost everywhere – like Magic DVD Ripper.

More tips and stuff To import music: Just click on the Task bar if it isn’t already there, and click Import Audio. To import a movie: Click on the Import Video button. So on so forth…

The benefits AMV Editing is an amazing hobby – truth be told, we should be paid for it! It’s an art, tedious and fustrating sometimes, yes, but the end result can be amazing… Of course, if you still aren’t sure what an AMV is from this really rushed, slapped-together abridged version of an explanation, the best way to find out more about it is to see it for yourself! Go to Youtube and check out some great editors.
