THE MOST PRESSING PROBLEMS There is no detailed monitoring of the sales and dissemination of the subsidised school materials in the education centres. The Department of Education, Universities and Research has tried to promote original materials in Basque. However, –the majority of the materials published are translated from other languages. –the publishing houses based in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country are relatively or very small, and very few have chosen to create and publish school materials in Basque. Very few publishing houses are choosing to produce school materials in non-printed media.
