112th Congress: First Session Overview Appropriations requests not accepted by Congressional or Senatorial offices for FY 2012 Continuing Resolution: FY 2011 Appropriations finally completed in April House Budget Resolution adopted with cuts of $6.2 trillion over the next 10 years; Senate does not adopt a budget resolution Debt Ceiling agreement created spending levels for both houses, and created a Super Committee for further cuts County Involvement in Federal Issues –Letters to Delegation and Administration –Meetings in the County with Congressional members

San Joaquin County Priorities Veterans’ Affairs Facilities Health Care and Human Services Agriculture and Environmental Mgmt. Housing and Community Development Transportation and Infrastructure Projects Public Safety and Emergency Services Water and Delta Issues

County Priorities: Veterans’ Affairs Facilities and Health Care Active engagement with Congressional Offices and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs leads to successful campaign supporting French Camp site for new clinic and long-term care facility Implementation of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) continues despite opposition in Congress Medicaid and Medicare funding targeted for reductions by members of the Super Committee Health Information Technology continues to be a high priority for DHHS Reimbursement for Emergency Medical Care for Undocumented Persons
