Do You Still Not Understand?

Whether you decide to follow Christ stands or falls on your opinion of Jesus.

Healing In Two Stages  Why heal this man in stages?  The miracle of seeing –

Healing In Two Stages  Why heal this man in stages?  The miracle of seeing –  Seeing the miracle -

The blind man represents the condition of the disciples  Think they have it figured out  He is “fuzzy”  They see better than most but have a long way to go

Jesus confronts them with 3 important questions: 1.Who do people say that I am? 2.Who do you say that I am? 3.What does it mean for Him to be Christ?

31 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32 And He was stating the matter plainly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. ( Mark 8:31-32)

Peter who the moment before was “confessor” suddenly turns “counselor” and tells Jesus what kind of Christ He should be.

HE MUST DIE BEFORE HE CAN REIGN!  It’s not a disciple’s place to fashion his leader, it’s a disciple’s place to follow his leader.  This is the most important point in the whole gospel of Mark.  What kind of Jesus do you see?

Four Clarifying Truths 1.Satan is actively involved in trying to distort your view of Jesus.  What is idolatry?

2.To see Jesus partially is to still need healing. 3.To see Him clearly is costly. 4.Jesus wants decisions not opinions.
