tsunami How it is formed Destruction How does it happen Pictures

How it is formed Tsunami’s race across the sea at up to 805 kilometers an hour- about as fast as a jet airplane. At that pace they can cross the entire pacific ocean in less than a day. And their long wave lengths means that they lose very little energy.

What Happens This is how it works: There is a crack under the sea and that makes the land to shift. It is called an earthquake and it makes the sea move. The sea moves up and down and then makes a wave that hits countries. A tsunami is a natural disaster and can kill millions of people.

JAPANSE WORD Tsunami is a Japanese word and it means harbor wave. The Japanese made up that name because they were the first ones that got hit by one. Japanese people have been hit a lot and lots of other countries have been hit to. There are some tsunami’s in Japan and there was one that was 85 metres high. In this picture over here, there are boats and they have been hit by a tsunami. The tsunami was very high and could've killed them.

DESTRUCTION In Indonesia a tsunami struck. The pictures next to the text I wrote is what it was like before and after. On the bottom picture is what happened before the tsunami. On the top picture is the destruction made by the tsunami that struck Indonesia.

Most tsunamis, about 80 percent, happen within the Pacific Ocean’s “Ring of Fire,” a geologically active area where tectonic shifts make volcanoes and earthquakes common. The blue lines on the map are trenches and the triangles on the map are the volcano’s. The thick red line is the ring of fire. Australia doesn’t get affected much because it is in the ring of fire.

RUNNING!! These people are running for their lives and the tsunami is so close to them. AAAGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All it has flooded and the house is nearly going to be flooded and it is going to b flooded. !!

Big TSUNAMI Look at the cars on the road. They are all covered in water and look at that next wave coming. It’s going to kill the whole coast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
