Global IT Management (GITM) Learning Objectives Explain the need to study global information technology management (GITM). Identify the issues and key goals important to business success. Identify the major dimensions of GITM. Explain how IT `is needed to support the company’s international business operation. Identify the applications of IT developed by global companies. Identify the global business drivers. Identify the global steps towards becoming a global company.

Why Study GITM?     International dimensions are becoming more and more important in managing a business in the internet-networked global economies and markets of today. Meaning, whether you become a manager in a large corporation or the owner of a small business, you will be affected by international business developments and deal in some way with people, products or services whose origin is not from your home country.  

The International Dimension   Vital part of managing an e-business enterprise in the internetworked global economies and markets of today.

International Issues Important to Business Success International issues in business management are important today. International Issues in: 1) accounting 2) marketing 3) finance 4) production / operation 5) human resource management 6) information systems and information technology.

Global behavior Key Goal in Business Success Properly designed and managed IS using appropriate IT because they provide information resources needed to support business activity in global markets. Global IT Management Focuses on developing global business strategies and managing global application portfolios, technologies, platforms, databases and system development projects. Global Information Technology The use of computer-based information systems and telecommunication networks using a variety of information technologies to support global business operations and management.
