King Saul A Lesson in Patience Loving Others In their Otherness

1 Samuel 16:13 (MSG) Samuel took his flask of oil and anointed him, with his brothers standing around watching. The Spirit of God entered David like a rush of wind, God vitally empowering him for the rest of his life.

1 Samuel 18:10 (NIV) The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully upon Saul.

1 Samuel 18:7 (NIV) "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands."

1 Samuel 18:9 (NIV) And from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David.

1 Samuel 18:12 (NIV) Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with David but had left Saul.

1 Samuel 18:28-29 (NIV) When Saul realized that the Lord was with David and that his daughter Michal loved David, Saul became still more afraid of him, and he remained his enemy the rest of his days.

1 Samuel 19:9-10 (NIV) While David was playing the harp, Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear, but David eluded him as Saul drove the spear into the wall. That night David made good his escape.

1 Samuel 22:1-2 (NIV) David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam... All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their leader. About four hundred men were with him.

1 Samuel 24:3 (NIV) …a cave was there, and Saul went in to relieve himself. David and his men were far back in the cave.

1 Samuel 24:4a (NIV) The men said, "This is the day the Lord spoke of when he said to you, 'I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish.'"

1 Samuel 24:4b (NIV) Then David crept up unnoticed and cut off a corner of Saul's robe.

1 Samuel 24:5-7 (NIV) Afterward, David was conscience-stricken for having cut off a corner of his robe. He said to his men, "The Lord forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the Lord's anointed, or lift my hand against him; for he is the anointed of the Lord."

1 Samuel 24:8 (NIV) Then David went out of the cave and called out to Saul, "My lord the king!" When Saul looked behind him, David bowed down and prostrated himself with his face to the ground.

Lessons in Patience God May Be Using a Person/Circumstance to Develop You

James 1:3-4 (MSG) You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.

Lessons in Patience God May Be Using a Person/Circumstance to Develop You Wrong Acts are Never the Answer to Relieve Pressure You Can Take a Long Time to Overheat When You Know God is in Control
