Lesson objective The aim of this lesson is to use the topic of Islam and euthanasia to help you understand the three golden rules of answering exam answers.

Lesson outcomes ALL will be able to apply common sense to a situation where they don’t know the answer ALL will be able to remember what Muslims believe about euthanasia ALL will be able to show good exam technique by using the stuff they have remembered or used common sense to work out These are vital skills no matter what grade you are aiming for!

Good exam answers What were the three underlined words in the last slide? Common sense – what you do when you can’t remember something Remember – the point of revision which is to remember things Technique – how to write down the things you have revised and remembered

Using your common sense Many answers in the exam can be worked out by using your common sense. You are going to see a series of statements about ISLAM and euthanasia. Use your mini whiteboards to comment on or complete each statement, as appropriate. You haven’t been taught this so use your common sense!

Being able to remember You have now used common sense to work out six facts about Islam and euthanasia. In your exercise books, you have five minutes to write down the six facts you have learned. You must not talk to anyone else whilst you do this but you can use the words on the next slide to help you.

Technique It is no good remembering things if you don’t know how to write them down properly. So here is a question…. “Choose one religion other than Christianity and explain why some of its followers accept euthanasia and others do not.”
