What type of music is this? What does this music make you think of? First thing is first, the person to the right or left of you is your partner for the day. What does Romantic mean to you?

Listen to the difference between this: And this:

Classical music is common and meant to entertain the simple mind without pushing the boundaries. It was meant to be soothing music. Romantic music is meant to make you think more about life, and to take a small thought in your mind and make it larger. You should write that down….how else can we say the difference? Psst……

Claude Debussy ( ) He was one of the most prominent figures working within the field of impressionist music, though he himself intensely disliked the term when applied to his compositions. A crucial figure in the transition to the modern era in Western music, he remains one of the most famous and influential of all composers. His music is noted for its sensory component and for not often forming around one key or pitch. Often Debussy's work reflected the activities or turbulence in his own life. In French literary circles, the style of this period was known as symbolism, a movement that directly inspired Debussy both as a composer and as an active cultural participant. Symbolism - is the practice of representing things by symbols, or of investing things with a symbolic meaning or character. A symbol is an object, action, or idea that represents something other than itself, often of a more abstract nature.
