THE PAST YEARS IN ANDROS by Kostis Tsokris

ENTERTAIMENT In the past years, my grandparents used to play many games. Some games were Koutso, Pentovola, Tsounia, Fight with stones and Football with a ball made of socks. The older people used to go to public feasts and they used to dance traditional dances.

HOME Their homes were made of stone and the furniture was made of wood. Since they did not have refrigerators they used to hang the food outside of the windows. For light, they used to have candles.

FOOD AND WORK They used to grow many vegetables and used to breed animals for meat. The girls used to help their mums clean the house. They used to eat healthy food.

TRANSPORT People used to go with donkeys to work in their farms. In the cities, they used to move around by bus. There weren’t many cars because they used to be very expensive.
