Major physical characteristics of Caribbean Islands  3 Island Groups Great/Lesser Antilles, Bahamas Greater Antilles (pretty mountainous) ○ Island Formation by volcanic mtns pushed up from ocean floor Lesser Antilles ○ Island Formation result of volcanic activity Bahamas ○ Island formation result of accumulation of coral polyps making it a flatter coral island  Marine Climate Affected by sear and wind, heavy rainfall on windward side, less on leeward side.

Why is migration Common  Migration has historically been common in Caribbean Islands for 2 Reasons  Poor political Situations Military Dictators, oppression, econ. Conditions  Job opportunities Much like that in Mexico Plantations are major employers but only employ large #s for shorter amounts of time
