Facts St. Patrick is Ireland's patron saint, known for spreading Christianity throughout the country as a missionary during the 5th century. Born in 385 A.D. in England, United Kingdom The most generally known patron saint of Ireland or the Apostle of Ireland. St. Patrick arrives in Ireland with one special book, which was the Latin Bible, and begins to preach the gospel proud and loud for everyone to hear the news of St. Patrick's great success. The Gospel soon reached Rome. One of his most common preaching ways was to use a 3-leaf clover to show the trinity.

Own words “I was taken captive before I knew what I should desire and what I should shun.” I, Patrick, a sinner, unlearned, resident in Ireland”. I, Patrick, a sinner, a most simple countryman, the least of all the faithful and most contemptible to many.”

His Words “Thus I am a servant in Christ to a foreign nation for the unspeakable glory of life everlasting which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This is a major factor in understanding Patrick. He knew himself as a sinner and found salvation where only sinners find it, “in Christ Jesus our Lord” The first words of his testimony read,

Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever

Bishop He was ordained by St. Germanus, the Bishop of Auxerre, whom he had studied under for years.

Patrick isn't really a Saint with a capital S, having never been officially canonized by Rome. Patrick couldn't have really driven the snakes out of Ireland because there were never any snakes there to begin with. He wasn't even the first evangelist to Ireland (Palladius had been sent in 431, about five years before Patrick went). Patrick isn't even Irish. He's from what's now Dumbarton, Scotland

For the rest of his life, Patrick would remain captivated by the grace of God. In his Confessions he wrote: And I am certain of this: I was a dumb stone lying squashed in the mud; the Mighty and Merciful God came, dug me out and set me on top of the wall. Therefore, I praise him and ought to render him something for his wonderful benefits to me both now and in eternity. Interesting Facts

St. Patrick wasn't Irish, and he wasn't born in Ireland. Patrick's parents were Roman citizens living in modern-day England He bought a boat and sailed back to Ireland
