Overview What is being done What can be changed Our Solution

Being Eco-Friendly Pays Economically Today, companies are addressing environmental issues by creating a product that yields sustainable consumption on a consumer level. Wal-Mart, Starbucks, Toyota, and General Electric are just a few of many companies producing more sustainable eco-friendly products. "Green marketing is a good thing," says Jack Barkenbus, executive director of the University of Tennessee's Energy Environment and Resources Center. "Consumers have begun to respond to it. That's why you've seen so much growth.“

Batteries All batteries received by Kodak are disposed of Although they can be recycled, it is a costly process “Batteries contain heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, and nickel, which can contaminate the environment when batteries are improperly disposed of. When incinerated, certain metals might be released into the air or can concentrate in the ash produced by the combustion process.” “One way to reduce the number of batteries in the waste stream is to purchase rechargeable batteries. Nearly one in five dry-cell batteries purchased in the United States is rechargeable. Over its useful life, each rechargeable battery may substitute for hundreds of single-use batteries.” On average, each person in the United States discards eight dry-cell batteries per year. US Population: 303,548, ,548,792 × 8 = 2,428,390,464 discarded batteries each year!

Take this technology…

And apply it here!!

Convert Your Energy Crank movements  Charge ions  Conduct electrical current  Power a camera!

How it Works Circuit Board Rotating Gears

How much power? We can conserve even more! Power = Volts x Amps Average Hand Crank provides 35 watts Battery provides 1.5 volts x 2.8 amps = 4.2 watts
