Definition of Poverty Poverty are found in every countries, and had been a problem from the ancients times till today. Poverty defines itself in not having enough money to spent on basic needs in life, having less or no money at all. It is as well as struggle to survive a day! The state of being extremely poor.

What is Poverty? – Cannot afford basic human needs Food Education Shelter Health care 2 types of Poverty – Income Poverty – Non Income Poverty

People earn money less than standard minimum wage (Less than a dollar per day!) They have problem accessing money They can’t afford food or medicine, shelter

Relative Poverty Have little amount of money but not good life They don’t have access to affordable social and physical services, school, healthcare, education, and public security.

Causes of Poverty Lack of Education Bad health – Decrease the potential to work Bad economy Unstable Government Natural disasters Bad lands for farming Poverty in childhoods always start when parents are jobless.

Effect of Poverty Hunger Deaths Disease spreading Protesting Homeless Bad economy Decreased in Life span Possibly conflicts and war Beggars and origins of slum villages

Prevention To prevent income poverty - Encourage development of effective business -Educate children since young -Available free health cares, schools, and public security

Why is it so Important? You might hear the word poverty going on several times. It’s ALL over the world, there would always be the “rich” and the “poor” who lives in slum. We are all humans, which means we are all one family. We should give care to the helpless people around the world and give them chances while you can. Probably they felt the same way, they needed help. On the other hand, decreasing in poverty brings more positive effects and feedbacks, such as economic growths to your own country. Doesn’t it feel good to see people smile? Imagine suffering such as living without shelter, clothes, or food?! That’s horrible!

ACTIONS? The UN and poverty organizations had been fighting against poverty around the world. But, that wasn’t enough. We all need to encourage everyone to help donate. We had listed out preventions for income poverty and non- income poverty. Now, we’re going to list and brainstorm to take actions to help those helpless people.

Find locations that poverty are easily noticed. Organize a little group or organization and spread the word. How?

- Donate money, un-used clothes or toiletries - Build houses for charity - Promote to help build free public schools and free hospitals (this will complete their basic needs) Go teach children about HIV/AIDS Do a charity drive!

MOST IMPORTANT Give free education! (Lacking of it was believed to be the start of poverty) Give opportunity to work! More available jobs!
