Morning Worship Bishop Justus Church of England School Do Justice, Love kindness, walk humbly with God Ordinary time—Liturgical Colour—Green February 4 th 2014

Gather The Lord be with you And also with you

Receive What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6: 8

Engage Justice, mercy and humility · Unpack what these words mean—ask for pictures or illustrations or anecdotes to describe them · How would you rate yourself for each of these? · How would you rate our school—are we fair / caring and humble as a group? · Thinking about yesterday’s worship—how does our school environment describe us on these 3 criteria—are we fair when we walk about the school, are we kind and are we humble? Think about litter / relating to others / behaviour in corridors etc Music · Play a song inspired by this verse · Use the song to discuss how we can act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God? · Do you think the song portrayed the verse well? · What about the media to go with it?

Respond Give us, O Lord, an eye for injustice. For it is only when are able to recognise injustice and feel its awful sting that we will be moved to make things right. Give us, O Lord, a tender heart. Sometimes we are too hard-hearted to recognise when we have been uncaring, unfeeling, or unkind. Grant us, O Lord the ability to view life from the dust. All our lives we have been taught to make others proud, to be proud of ourselves, to hold our heads high all the while missing the virtues of being poor in spirit. Teach us dear Lord, to do justice, love kindness, and to walk humbly with you. Amen. Caroline Dandridge

Go Do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God. Amen.
