Outline for Presentation P lanning P reparation P ractice P erformance Q uestions

Plan for the Following:  Who are you talking to?  Why are you talking to them?  How long have you got to present?  What are you going to share?

Preparation  Outline and/or sketch slides before creating PowerPoint  Create slides on PowerPoint  Proof read slides for errors  Prepare notes for presentation- (brief keywords and phrases)

Preparation - Outline minutes per slide 8-10 Minute Presentation  Title Slide (1 min.)  Main Characters (2 min.)  Setting (1-2 min.)  Conflict (1-2 min.)  Prediction (1-2 min.)  Words that Summarize Story and Explanation of Each (2 min.)  Theme (1 min.)

Practice Practice, practice, practice Get feedback, and use it.

During the Presentation Don’t Apologize Speak loudly and clearly Use short simple sentences Avoid abbreviations Vary pitch, tone, volume, speed and pauses

Performance Avoid distracting movements Relax Be enthusiastic Make eye contact Keep an eye on the time remaining

Performance Explain each slide. Give a clear and concise summary, then stop. Don’t go overtime. Ever.

Questions Anticipate likely questions and know how you would answer the questions.
