Playing in the Streets? A. Chaudhuri & S. Zieff Purpose: This project evaluated Play Streets, a national initiative developed in 2012 (sponsored by Michelle Obama’s Partnership for a Healthier America). Play Streets use existing infrastructure such as streets, sidewalks and play spaces to offer physical activity programming. Results & Conclusion Preliminary Results: Increased participation among children and community members; Provided opportunities to create and improve community connections; Attracted young children (ages 6-12); less successful in attracting teenagers. Highlighted parental involvement Conclusions: Consider appropriateness of activities for age group New strategies needed to attract teen girls (highest risk group)
