Wildfire Monitoring To find wildfire immediately, Sentinel Asia monitors wildfire by using satellite observation. AIT Thailand, University of Tokyo Japan, CSIRO Austraria, and CRISP Singapore detect the potential area of wildfire as hotspot by using MODIS data, and provide the hotspot information to Sentinel Asia. Sentinel Asia unifies the hotospot information from various organizations, and provide the hotospot information every day. 9

Current Reinfall Current Cloud 1 week Reinfall Hotspot Info. 10

Flood Monitoring To support prediction of flooding, Sentinel Asia provides rainfall information. As the rainfall information, Sentinel Asia provides GFAS infromation from International Center for Water Hazard and Risk Management, ICHARM, and GSMaP near real time information from EORC, JAXA. GFAS provides 1, 3, 7, 30,60, 100 days accumulated precipitation information (spacial resolution is 0.25 degree) and 5 and 10 years statistics data everyday. GSMaP provides hourly rainfall information with 4 hours time delay, and its spacial resolution is 0.1 degree. 11

MTSAT Imagery MTSAT is a meteorological satellite operated by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). MTSAT provides basic hourly imagery covering the full earth disk once every hour on the hour (e.g., 01:00, 02:00, 03:00 UTC, etc.). In addition, northern hemisphere imagery is collected every hour on the half hour (e.g., 01:30, 02:30, 03:30 UTC, etc.), while southern hemisphere imagery is covered every six hours on the half hour (e.g., 00:30, 06:30, 12:30 UTC, etc.). Under the framework of Sentinel Asia, JMA is providing MTSAT data to JAXA. JAXA has been processing the data and providing Visible (VIS: 0.63 µm), Infrared (IR: 10.8 µm), and Water Vapor (WV: 6.8 µm) imagery on Sentinel Asia. 13

Capacity Building To enable utilization of earth observation images provided under the Sentinel Asia, we are providing several capacity building opportunities in terms of building capacity for interpretation of earth observation images and how to operate Sentinel Asia System as well. (1) Sentinel Asia System Operation Training (3-5 days) > Organize 2 times / Year at the Asia-Pacific region > Sentinel Asia System Operation hands on training > Beginner's R/S data handling hands on training (2) ALOS Mini Project (2 month) > Organize 1 time / Year at Asia Institute of Technology (AIT) > High-level R/S data handling/analysis hands on training 16
