ACCELERATING CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH

ACCELERATING CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH What is Community Health Engagement Program? It is a component of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI), funded from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Indiana University in collaboration with Purdue and Notre Dame, has created CHEP to help assist researchers in translating research findings to the Indiana community by engaging the community to participate in research opportunities.

ACCELERATING CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH Promote collaboration among community partners throughout Indiana to improve research, health and healthcare. Our Mission

ACCELERATING CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH CHEP has a consortium of over 200 community partners that comprise our Community Advisory Council (CAC). CAC is working to improve the health of Hoosiers. Community organizations/ residents Researchers Community health providers

ACCELERATING CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH CAC Partners: Clarian Health BioCrossroads Cook Group Roche Wellpoint Indiana Economic Development Corp Indiana Department of Health Marion County Health Department YMCA of Greater Indianapolis Fairbanks Institute for Healthy Communities Indiana Commission for Women Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis March of Dimes And many more

ACCELERATING CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH CTSI IAC CAC AAG EAG CEB CHEP CCC CCC – Community Coordinating Committee This committee began by organizing CHEP and will continue to be a liaison between the CAC and the rest of the CTSI structure. CAC – Community Advisory Council The CAC is a collection of community organizations that comprise CHEP CEB – Community Executive Board The CEB is a subset of the CAC that organizes the CAC and its Action Groups, and advises the entire CTSI concerning community matters. AAG – Ad Hoc Action Group AAGs are short-term groups that are organized to achieve an immediate goal such as organizing a particular study in a community. EAG – Enduring Action Group EAGs are long-term groups composed of CAC members who perform a function that is ongoing. The IU IRB is an example of an EAG. CHEP Structure

COLLABORATION OPPORTUNITIES CHEP facilitates collaboration between researchers and community partners with similar interests. CONSULTATION SERVICES CHEP assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of community engaged research protocols. PRACTICE BASED RESEARCH NETWORKS CHEP links researchers to Practice Based Research Networks for recruitment assistance. ACCESS TO PARTNERS CHEP provides researchers access to a network of over 200 local community members and researchers, including underserved populations who are interested in project collaboration. CHEP Services
