The Simple Gift By: Steven Herrick Caitlin Kilvitis 9th period

A is for Alcohol Billy stole a lot of alcohol from his dad before he ran away. He uses it to drink a bottle and give the other bottles away for a thank you gift.

B is for Billy Luckett Billy is a 16 year old boy who is leaving his house to get away from his abusive father. Billy is one of the main characters in the book.

C is for Caitlin Holmes Caitlin is Billy’s first true love they meet at her job. That’s when Caitlin found out he was homeless. Caitlin is also one of the main characters of this book.

D is for Dog Billy’s dog Bunkbrain has to be left with Billy’s dad. Billy would take him but no one would help him if he had a dog with him.

E is for Ernie Ernie is a train driver who caught Billy in the back of the train trying to leave town. Ernie let Billy go and let him sleep in a cabin for the night. ( this is who Billy gave a bottle of wine to)

F is for Funerals Old Billy’s daughter died after falling out of a tree. A year later his wife died from getting drunk and getting into a car accident. Old bill was devastated at both of their funerals being so close.

L is for Longlands road Billy had a lot of memories on Longlands road and when he was leaving he had a flashback of what he did when he was young.

M is for Mop Billy and Caitlin meet at McDonalds while Caitlin was mopping the floors. Caitlin hated this job so much!

N is for Note Caitlin found a note from Billy after he left her work and he said,” Caitlin is an Irish name for Catherine meaning pure and innocent”

O is for Old Bill Old Bill is in the abandoned train right next to Billy’s. they do everything together and Old Bill is one of the main characters of this book.

P is for Practice When Billy was younger his dad wouldn’t practice soccer with him. Billy hit the house with the soccer ball accidently and his dad came out of the house. Billy’s dad hit him upside the head and watched him bleed.

Q is for Quiet Billy was very quiet when he was around people. When he went to McDonalds he was the most quietest because of Caitlin… until he started to know her.

R is for Railroad Old Bill always takes walks on the railroad to clear his head and to think about his day.

S is for Speedboat Billy leaves his town by jumping on a speedboat that was attached to a train. He was on the speedboat for a couple of hours.

T is for Train Billy sleeps in a train every night. Caitlin visits him and always will remember where he lives she says.

U is for understanding Caitlin under stands what Billy is going through and wants to help him with being homeless. So she helps him get a house set up

V is for visits Caitlin always goes and visits Billy and always brings him lunch or breakfast.

W is for Wealthy Caitlin is very wealthy and her dad pays for everything. She doesn't know why she has to work if she is rich.

X is for eXited When Caitlin and Billy are together they get really happy and exited to hangout. They just can’t stop smiling or laughing.

Y is for Yelling Billy and Caitlin always yell and scream enjoyment when they are having fun and walking in the woods.

Z is for Zig-Zag When Billy buys a new house he had to zig-zag through the stuff others left behind. While Caitlin helped him clean up the house.
