Daily Instructions

Day One: Getting Started Overview of the Project Choose Groups  Choose the statement that you plan to defend Begin collecting evidence  These are your WITNESSES  Choose the FIVE that are best suited for your case  Do this INDIVIDUALLY Get back with your group and share the evidence you have collected  Decide which FIVE pieces the group will use  Divide up the evidence Individually begin OPVL: IB Document Analysis GOAL : OPVL Completed

Day Two: Evidence Continue with individual OPVL Analysis  You should have this done by the end of the hour  It will need to be fully typed and put into your brief Begin connecting your evidence to your argument  This should be worked on individually as well  You MUST be able to tie your evidence back to the statement that you are defending  Some questions to answer:  How does this prove the statements accuracy?  What holes does this leave? How can you negate them?  Why did you choose this document over others? Remember this is what you are going to say when you present to the class This will also be typed and inserted into your brief GOAL: Connecting the Evidence Completed

Day Three: Opening Argument With your group create an opening argument This should do the following:  Provide an attention grabber to hook the jury  Explain the statement and why you believe it is accurate  Give a brief explanation of how you are planning to argue its accuracy  This may include a brief explanation of the documents you will be presenting This will be typed as well and put into your brief Choose the person that will be saying the argument at the trial GOAL: Completion of Opening Argument

Day Four: Presentation Creation Create a PowerPoint Presentation that displays your evidence  This should be unique and creative  Make sure that you have a plan to the way that you present your evidence  Most important piece first/last  Emphatically  Logically Slides must include a picture of the evidence that you are going to use  These will be found on the MC assignment page for WH Goal: Powerpoint Presentation Completed

Day Five: Closing Argument With your group create a closing argument This should do the following:  Provide an attention grabber to hook the jury  Explain the statement and why you believe it is accurate  Give a brief explanation of how you have masterfully argued your case  This may include a brief explanation of the documents you used  Conclude with a statement that expresses the reason why you have provided the best defense This will be typed as well and put into your brief Choose the person that will be saying the argument at the trial GOAL: Completion of Closing Argument

Weekend Wrap Up Complete anything that you need to Make sure that everything is typed  Your name should be on the individual items that you created Put your brief together in the proper order Practice Opening and Closing Arguments  Practice individual evidence presentations Prepare for Court tomorrow!
