Forms Of Government In all the countries of the world someone is in charge but this can vary greatly from place to place.

 In an Autocracy one person has all of the power.  Two types of Autocracy are:  Monarchy- when a king or queen rules the country  Dictatorship- when one leader has absolute control over the citizens. Autocracy

 In a Democracy citizens hold the power.  There are two types of Democracies:  Representative- citizens elect leaders to represent their rights and interests in government.  Direct- there are no representatives, citizens are directly involved. Now days most modern cities are too large for this to work. Democracy

 In an Oligarchy a small group of people have all of the power.  One example of an Oligarchy is a Junta. This is usually military based and works much like a dictatorship, except that several people share power. Oligarchy

 In a Theocracy the government recognizes God or a diving being as the ultimate authority.  A theocracy can also be a democracy, dictatorship, monarchy, or any other kind of government.  Iran is an example of a theocracy.  This form of government is usually found in countries that are highly religious. Theocracy

 In an anarchy no one or everyone is in control.  People who believe in anarchy feel that we should be free to live without control by a government or nation.  There are no countries that have anarchy as their form of government. Anarchy
