4H is 4U ! How & Where Can I Become A Member ?

What is 4-H? 4-H is a nationwide 501 C (3) non-profit educational program that focuses on the needs, interests and concerns of youth, regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, disability or national origin.

4-H Motto... “To make the best better”

What does 4-H stand for? My HEAD to clearer thinking, My HEART to greater loyalty, My HANDS to larger service, My HEALTH to better living... For my club, my community, my country, and my world.

In The Beginning… 1902 – 1 st Clubs started in Ohio Texas History Jack County  “Corn Club” formed with 25 members  All males 1912 – Milam County  “ Tomato Canning Club” formed  All females  2007 – Statewide enrollment exceeds 1 million

How Old Do You Have to Be to Join? 4-H programs are open to all youth age 8 and in the 3rd grade, through age H “Clover Kids” is also available for children under the age and grade requirements for regular 4-H programs.  Children in this program can range in age from 6 to 8 and grades kindergarten through 2nd grade.

How Do You Join 4-H? By enrolling and participating in one of the following clubs: A community or neighborhood club A project or school club A special interest project One Adult Volunteer Leader and at least 5 youth may start a new club

How Much Does it Cost to Join 4-H? Joining 4-H costs little or nothing There are no county, state, or national dues If projects require an investment to get started, the clubs can usually conduct fundraising activities Bexar County 4-H clubs participate in a countywide fundraiser with part of the proceeds being kept by the clubs

How Often Do 4-H Clubs Meet? 4-H clubs may organize any time of the year. Some clubs meet every week for a month or two and some meet one or twice a month all year long. ? ????

Where Do 4-H Clubs Usually Meet? Any place that is large enough and convenient for members of the group. Many clubs take turns meeting in the member’s homes. Some meet in a central place such as a school, church, or community center.
