Our Mission... to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.

It’s a great time to serve… oIn the next few years, the number of AmeriCorps members will more than triple! oAmeriCorps members are expected to reach over 250,000 in number across the US!! 8

What are the options for a HS grad? 10 oAmeriCorps*NCCC oAmeriCorps*State and National

11 oFull-time program for 18 to 24-year-olds o10-month term of service. oHousing and meals provided oTeams of travel throughout their area to serve on a series of 6-8 week projects oFive NCCC campuses throughout the country: -Denver, CO-Perry Point, MD -Sacramento, CA -Vinton, IA -Vicksburg, MS oNCCC members frequently serve on projects focused on meeting the country’s homeland security and disaster response needs. oWisconsin is served by the Vinton, Iowa Campus! AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps)

What do NCCC members DO? 12 Hands-on, direct service, especially in environmental conservation and disaster relief. Examples include: Infrastructure improvement Environmental stewardship & conservation Energy conservation Urban and rural development Construct and rehabilitate low-income housing Respond to natural disasters Clean up streams Help communities develop emergency plans

13 AmeriCorps*State and National oLargest AmeriCorps program, with 65,000 members serving annually in nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and faith- based organizations oAmeriCorps State and National projects are in every state, in U.S. territories, and on tribal reservations oPrograms are open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent resident aliens age 17 and older oMembers may serve full- or part-time (while in college) over a period not to exceed 12 months oAmeriCorps Members work directly on projects and tasks with communities oTutoring & Education oBuilding Houses oEnvironmental Projects oCommunity Centers & Non-Profits

What are the options for a college grad? oAmeriCorps*NCCC oAmeriCorps*State and National oAmeriCorps*VISTA 14

15 AmeriCorps*VISTA oFull-time volunteers assigned to non-profit organizations and local agencies to help develop lasting solutions to poverty in America. oVISTA members strengthen and support these organizations by: oBuilding infrastructure oRecruiting community volunteers oSecuring long term resources oHelp build long term sustainability for the anti-poverty effort. oOne year commitment oMembers may NOT have another job oMembers do not engage in direct service. oAfter completing service, members receive 1 year of non-competitive eligibility for federal positions.

How to apply oApplicants MUST apply online by creating their own personal profile and application. They can apply for up to 10 positions with the same application. oUse the advanced search option to search for specifics (by state, by area of interest, by project, etc.) 16
