B IRTH Aphrodite had no real father or mother. As Uranus’ manhood was cut off it fell to the sea. When it hit the sea it created great waves and foam. From this foam Aphrodite was born. Aphrodite first washed ashore on Cythera. She gets her epithet Cytherea. She is born as an adult.
