Where is Germany?

German Food Germans started the traditions of the Easter eggs and Easter Bunnies. Gummy bears also came from Germany. Gingerbread is very popular during Christmas time and the gingerbread house originated in Germany. Some German foods are bratwurst (sausage), sauerkraut (cabbage), goulash (beef/pork) served with noodles, and schnitzel (pork/veal). Today, I will have you sample chocolate, gummy bears, and cookies all from Germany. ALDI, originated in Germany, is a local store that sells German products.

Classical German music is performed around the world more than any other music. There are many famous German composers. Three of them are Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Richard Wagner.Johann Sebastian BachLudwig van BeethovenRichard Wagner German Music

The following videos are examples of classical German music, composed by two famous composers, Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig Von Beethoven. If you have watched cartoons before you have probably heard a lot of classical music. Cartoons would actually be pretty boring without music.

Toccata and Fugue by Bach

Ode to Joy by Beethoven

German Traditions Germany has many traditions that are celebrated. On the first day of 1 st grade parents give their children Schultuetes. These are treat bags with goodies and school supplies. The bags are shaped like a cone. A Christmas tradition originating from Germany is the Christmas Pickle. It is the last ornament put onto the tree and whichever child finds the pickle first receives and extra gift from St. Nicholas. My family follows this tradition and the last 2 years my brother Connor has found the pickle first is going to be my year.
