Inspiration for Art: Parks and the Outdoors!

Things to do: Auto touring Bicycling Camping Fishing Hiking Horseback riding Picnicking Waterfalls Wildlife viewing

One of the few places in the east where black bears can live in wild, natural surroundings. They estimate that roughly 1,500 bears live in the park. They may be six feet in length and up to three feet high at the shoulder. Bears, like humans, are omnivores. Plant materials such as berries and nuts make up approximately 85% of their diet. Bears have color vision and a great sense of smell. In addition, they are good tree climbers, can swim very well, and can run 30 miles per hour. Bears are most active during early morning and late evening hours

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park Looks “smoky” because fog lingers over the mountains, and looks like plumes of smoke from a distance The fog is most common after it rains and in the morning Fog is the result of warm air cooling quickly Rolling hills Mountains look lighter and less detailed as they get farther away

IN THE CLOUDS

COLORS ARE LIGHTER AND MORE BLUE FARTHER AWAY

COLORSCOLORS

TODAY: Tape edges of watercolor paper On practice paper, use pencil to draw outlines of mountain ridges 1.2 with detail in Foreground 2.2 in the Middle Ground, less detailed 3.1 in Background, not detailed EQ: Why do the mountain ridges in the foreground have more detail? Re-draw your landscape with pencil onto watercolor paper Trace over the pencil lines with sharpie

BLUE: put example sheets on the front table YELLOW: put sketchbooks on the front table (all artwork inside) GREEN: put pencil sharpener and warm-up instructions in the center of your table RED: put tape on the front table
