Run For Missions For my first service-learning project I volunteered to work for the Baptist Collegiate Ministry’s Run For Missions Fundraiser. This was a four mile race and a one mile fun run. All the proceeds of the event went to help students who would be traveling over the summer doing mission work. At the event I helped set up and worked registration. Westside Elementary Field Day I was given the opportunity to help during Westside Elementary School’s Field Day. In high school I volunteered this same field day so it was cool to work it again in college. I walked a fifth grade class around to their different stations. It was fun to watch them play their games, but it was even more fun to join in. I was given the opportunity to help during Westside Elementary School’s Field Day. Community Day I volunteered to help run a booth at the Lowndes County Community Day. This was a fun time to help those in need around the community. There was free food, groceries, clothes, health screenings, music, games, and haircuts. It was awesome to see everyone around the community to come together and help those that have little. What did I learn? I learned how one little thing can effect someone in a big way. By doing service-learning I was able to meet many amazing people and develop great friendships.
