Corinthians 5:20- “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us:

we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.”

An ambassador is a spokesperson or representative of one state with authority to speak to the

authorities of another state on behalf of his commander-in-chief.

Who is Paul talking to in this passage?

Here are the specific characteristics of an ambassador:

We are sent.

We are to interact personally with the community where God sends us.

We are to be in the world but not of the world.

Matthew 11:18-19-“For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son

of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and ‘sinners.’

But wisdom is proved right by her actions.”

WHEN AMBASSADORS ARE WELCOME:

Ambassadors are welcomed when people realize they are engaged in a war which is far beyond their strength to win.

Ambassadors are welcomed when people have begun to feel the victorious force of the King coming near.

Ambassadors are welcomed when they come with a gracious invitation from the King.
