Uniform Wear The military uniform has a long and honorable tradition of devotion to duty The JROTC uniform should be worn proudly and properly at all times…to continue that tradition The rules/guidelines for grooming standards and wearing the JROTC uniform is based on AFI and AFI

Wando JROTC Wear uniform on Tuesday of each week unless told otherwise by instructor –Wear uniform on first day back to school if absent on Tuesday –Stop by JROTC for uniform inspection if leaving school on Tuesday before your JROTC class (sick, appointment, etc.)

Female Name Tag/Ribbons Name Tag/Ribbons…must be centered 1 ½ to 2 ½ inches below the bottom of the tab or top button…bottom of name tag must be even with the bottom of ribbons

Uniform Do’s Wear V-neck t-shirt…both male & female Wear black socks…or approved hose Wear hat outside…remove while indoors Keep uniform clean and pressed Keep shoes clean and shined Maintain grooming standards May wear a wristwatch and rings…no more than 3 rings at any one time Bracelet okay if conservative, does not detract from military image, no wider than 1 inch.

and don’ts No chewing gum Keep hands out of pockets Mix/match with civilian clothes No items sticking out of pockets (pens, sunglasses, candy) No large bulky items in pockets Do not allow hair to touch eyebrows

Female Guidelines Hair no longer than bottom of the collar at back…no more than 3 inches in bulk Must be able to wear headgear properly! Grooming aids-pins, combs, barrettes- must be plain and similar to hair color. Hose okay-neutral dark brown, black, or dark blue shade.

Jewelry –Earrings - small, plain gold, pearl, or silver spherical (round) earrings are the only ones you can wear---on ear lobe. One matched pair! Hair –Color should look natural, if dyed, and should not be of an unusual color that contrasts with natural color.

Hair. –Clean, neat, and trimmed. –Groomed, tapered appearance. –Not touch ears and eyebrows when wearing hat. –Only closely cut or shaved hair in back of neck should touch the collar. –Not exceed 1 1/4” in bulk. Male Guidelines

Must have a tapered appearance on both sides and back. Sideburns must be straight (no flare) and will not extend below lowest part of the exterior ear opening. Mustaches will not extend beyond upper lip or sideways beyond the corner of the mouth. Earrings will not be worn by male cadets. Jewelry - same as for girls, except earrings.

Grade insignia - a device that identifies the rank of each member of armed forces/cadets Higher your rank the more responsibility is put on you Insignia Of Grade

2 categories –Officers Address a 2nd LT and a 1st LT as lieutenant; Address both LT COL and COL as colonel; Address all generals as general –Noncommissioned officers Enlisted grades (2 categories) –Noncommissioned officer –Airman Grade Insignia System

–NCO’S are airman in grades of SSGT - Chief Master Sergeant –Pay grade always one more than number of stripes…E-9 = 8 stripes Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force –Highest position held by any enlisted personnel –Chief PAUL AIREY - first CMS of AF Address a CMSGT as chief; Address all other sergeants as sergeant
