 Movie was based on what occurred during the Greco Persian wars  Greek City States Fought against the invading Persian Army at Thermopylae 480BC

 King Leonidas along with 300 Spartans fought against the Persians under the rule of King Xerces.  The Spartan’s fought to block the narrow path of Thermopylae where the numbers of the massive Persian army would count for nothing.  The last stand of the 300 finest Spartan Warriors pushed the Greek City States to Unite against the Persian Army

Showed how large and sophisticated the Persian Army was Spartan’s Army formation was more suitable for it’s narrow path Matter of honor and glory for the 300 Spartans King Xerces’ army eventually overwhelmed the forces King Leonidas

Valued military Political power resided in the Council of Elders Women were respected because they gave birth to children for army Relied on well rounded soldiers
