Iomega Confidential 6 ScreenPlay TV Link vs. ScreenPlay HD Feature List ScreenPlay TV LinkScreenPlay HD Component, Composite and HDMI Playback of various video formats: MPEG-4 (AVI/DiVX x/XViD), MPEG-1, MPEG-2 Playback of various audio formats: MP3, WAV, AC3, WMA, OGG Playback of various image formats Capable of Internal Storage  Capable of attached External Storage 

Iomega Confidential 7 Troubleshooting the ScreenPlay TV Link TV Link support for MPEG-4 Video Codecs: –It does support the DivX 3.11, 4 and 5 encoded files –It does not support the DivX 6 encoded files –It does not support MP4 (ISO MPEG4) files TV Link does not show files in directories in attached storage –It will show files with supported file extensions: AVI, MPG, WAV, OGG, MP3, WMA, VOB etc. –Check that the files use the correct extension and that they are using a supported container format. –Verify that files are on the first partition of the storage medium. TV Link shows LCD HDTV with “mode not supported” –The 720p standard has two specifications: 720p 50hz, 720p 60hz –If the TV system is PAL when connected to HDMI it will force the TV Link to 720p 50hz –If the TV system is NTSC when connected to HDMI it will force the TV Link to 720p 60hz –To change moves, hold FF key then press MENU to change current TV System even when using HDMI mode.

Iomega Confidential 8 Troubleshooting the ScreenPlay TV Link The TV Link menu scrolls uncontrollably on the TV: –It is likely the TV System that the TV Link is currently set to needs to be adjusted. (Refer to Answer ID for more information.) Again, hold the FF button and press the MENU button to cycle through the different supported TV Systems. –For TV Links purchased in US, out of box setting is NTSC. (US Standard) –For TV Links purchased in Europe, out of box setting is PAL. (European Standard) To display on a LCD Monitor: –Using a HDMI to DVI cable the user can display 720p on LCD monitor. –The LCD monitor should be wide screen and must equipped with the DVI-D interface and HDCP support. Digital Audio Support: –The TV Link does not support a digital audio output due to the small footprint of the TV Link device. Looping audio/video Support: –The TV Link supports the.m3u playlist. The user can specify REPEAT and/or SHUFFLE mode by using ScreenPlay playlist management utility.

Iomega Confidential 9 Troubleshooting the ScreenPlay TV Link Output or Storage device not supported: –If you run into a customer that has an output device (e.g. TV, LCD Monitor) or storage medium that is not supported. Collect Model, Manufacturer and Serial Number of the device. Pass this information through LASG to Iomega resources with as much detail as possible! Explain to the customer that we are constantly improving this device and will pass this information on to our Engineers. Regarding supported File Formats: –Reformatting an NTFS drive to FAT32 will not “make a drive work” avoid this as a troubleshooting step. Both file systems are supported! –Multiple partitions are not supported. Any partition beyond the first will not be recognized by the TV Link. Does the ScreenPlay TV Link and ScreenPlay HD have a Linux kernel covered by GPL? –The ScreenPlay HD and ScreenPlay TV Link does not have a Linux Kernel at its core. It is a proprietary closed system. –These elements are proprietary and will not be released to the public.

Iomega Confidential 10 Troubleshooting the ScreenPlay TV Link Playback issues for Supported File Types: –If you run into a customer that is not able to play a supported file type (e.g. AVI video that was encoded using DivX 5.) –Check the Properties (PC) or Get Info (Mac) of the file from a computer. You can find the audio and video codec information for this file in this location. –If the TV Link displays video but does not play audio, it is likely using an unsupported Audio Codec. –If the TV Link plays audio but does not display video, it is likely using an unsupported Video Codec. –If you are unable to resolve the contact, perform the following: Collect all codec information for the file including the extension used, the bitrate and the encoded resolution. Pass the incident and the additional information through LASG to Iomega resources with as much detail as possible! Explain to the customer that we are constantly improving this device and will pass this information on to our Engineers.

Iomega Confidential 11 General ScreenPlay Product Troubleshooting Changing video modes via the Remote –NTSC/PAL button on the device toggles for ScreenPlay HD –Holding FF and pressing the Menu button will switch video modes on both ScreenPlay HD and ScreenPlay TV-Link models. Creating Playlists –Playlist manager software to create a.m3u file. –Do not use Windows Media Player to create the.m3u file as these are not always compatible. Supported Video Settings: –Using the Composite connections: Standard Definition (SD) and 480i –Using the Component connections: Standard Definition (SD) up to 480p –Using the HDMI connection: High Definition (HD) of 480p up to 1080i (Upscaled) –Using HDMI all lesser formats will be “up-converted” to the selected output setting. This information applies to ScreenPlay HD and ScreenPlay TV-Link
