Traditional Approach

Impact of Traditional Approach

A Sustainable Industrial Ecology

Impact of Sustainable Approach

Challenges &Can we work within the limits of our resources (e.g., intellectual, creative, financial) to reduce our impact on the environment and to promote the sustainability of our community? &Can we Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover? &Can we incorporate these principles into our approaches to teaching, research and administration?

Some New Initiatives: City Commitments &Limit idling by fleet and visitors’ vehicles &Improve infrastructure to increase bicycle use &Encourage sustainable transportation &Develop a McGill purchasing policy for acquisition and maintenance of new vehicles &Promote University’s commitment to proper waste management with staff and suppliers &Landscape the campus with a focus on biodiversity &Participate in two events (e.g. car free day, waste reduction week, etc.)
