Safety Working Together The Key to Safety

Drug Free Workplace Policy SRCSBs commitment: Provide students with a quality education in a safe learning environment Provide employees with a safe work environment Eliminate substance abuse related costs from our operations

Types of Drug Testing Job Applicant All individuals hired required to submit to a drug screen and be free of alcohol and controlled substances Current Employee Reasonable Suspicion Post-Injury Follow-up

Rules of Conduct Prohibits employees from being on duty and possessing, using, distributing or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Prohibits employees from misusing alcohol or possessing, using or distributing drugs off the job to the extent that any off-duty possession, use or distribution impacts upon their effectiveness and ability to perform their employment duties, or adversely affects the interests of the School Board.

Penalties for Refusal to Submit An injured employee forfeits any medical and indemnity benefits under Florida Workers Compensation Statute May be discharged or otherwise disciplined by the School Board

Confidentiality All information, interviews, reports, statements, memos, and drug test results, written or otherwise, received by the School Board will be treated in a confidential manner, unless otherwise required by Florida law.

Employee Responsibilities for Safety Maintain a safe work area Perform duties in a safe manner Make sure you have the tools you need to safely do your job or perform a task Example: standing on a chair to tack something up on a bulletin board Report any unsafe conditions to your site administrator Utilize classroom safety checklist Report any incident or injury immediately

Workplace Injury Procedure Report injuries immediately to administrative personnel at your work site First Report of Injury and Incident Investigation report must be completed and submitted to Risk Management Post-incident drug screens are required for all incidents reported to administration Administrative personnel at work site will notify Risk Management regarding the incident/injury Three incident categories Report only – the incident does not require medical care but requires a post-incident drug screen Medical - the incident requires medical care for the employee but does not require immediate emergency care, Employee will be seen by the doctor at Santa Rosa Occupational Health on Avalon Blvd. in Milton. Emergency - the incident requires immediate medical care and the employee will be taken or instructed to go to the closest Emergency Room for treatment Modified duty is available (usually at an alternate worksite)

Administrative Responsibilities Conduct fire evacuation and other required drills 10 evacuation drills required per year – 1 each month and 2 during the first two weeks of school starting 1 severe weather (tornado) drill required per year 1 lock down drill required per year 1 shelter in place drill required per year Periodic site safety committee meetings Minimum of four per site per year Periodic safety audits Annual comprehensive (fire, casualty, sanitation) Annual fire inspection by local agencies Provide safety training and education Follow up on safety issues or concerns as they arise

Safety Incentive Program Cash in on Safety Program dates April 1 through March 31 Three accident/Injury goals are set based on individual, work site and District safety performance. A maximum of $ may be awarded as follows: Goal # 1 - Individual employee has no work related injury during the program year. Valued at $75.00 Goal #2 – Work site injuries at or below 2% of the number of employees; 3% for high risk groups such as Transportation, Maintenance, Food Service & Custodians. Valued at $50.00 Goal #3 – District total not to exceed 1% of the total number of district employees. Valued at $25.00 Incentive dollars awarded in May $303, awarded for 2011/2012 program year
