Conclusion The utilization of the Department to approve settlements continues to increase The number of Department approved settlements where no complaint has been filed is increasing The average age, level of education and compensation rate of injured workers are all increasing Average medical costs for permanent disability cases appear to have leveled off

Conclusion Body as a whole, arm and leg injury cases where the injured worker was returned to pre-injury employment all show decreases in PPD percentage amounts, PPD multipliers, PPD monetary amounts and medical benefits/expenses paid. The percentage of permanent total and death cases appears to be diminishing The percent of trial verdicts appealed as compared to the number of trials appears to be increasing
