Definition of Enterprise Information Management Enterprise information management (EIM) is an integrative discipline for structuring, describing and governing information assets, regardless of organizational and technological boundaries, to improve operational efficiency, promote transparency and enable business insight. Gartner G

iWay EIM Approach I have to say that I like this approach. Not just in terms of the CEP engine but also the whole idea of embedding capabilities into an ESB. In effect, this is a turn-around from traditional approaches. Other vendors in this space primarily started as batch vendors and now offer real-time or near-real-time extensions but they are still basically batch products. iWay, on the other hand, has designed its EIM to target real-time requirements and, yes, it can do batch too. Companies whose primary requirements are for real-time processing could do worse than to take a good look at iWay EIM. Philip Howard – Bloor Research

Introduction to Master Data Management Project CNWL and IBI

Introducing CNWL Services  Range of mental health, substance misuse and learning disability services across 100 sites  Span 9 boroughs in central and north west London  Last year CNWL provided:  community care for approx 41,000 local people  inpatient care for approx 3,600 local people  Annual turnover approaching £210 million  23 inpatient units with 881 beds  Community care is today’s emphasis on services

Local Population  2 million people across 9 boroughs served  Some of most affluent and most deprived areas in London  35% of population belongs to minority ethnic groups  Over 150 languages are spoken  Highly mobile with 30% of London’s asylum seekers  High levels of rough sleepers, up to 50% have mental health as well as SMS problems  Young population

The Areas CNWL Serves

Master Data  “Master data are the critical nouns of a business and fall generally into four groupings: people, things, places, and concepts” (Source: Microsoft)  CNWL is focusing on data relating to:  Patients (e.g. names, addresses, NHS no., ethnicity)  Staff (e.g. names, locations, job titles, team)  Organizational units (e.g. names, locations, services)

Overview  Few Examples:  Team 1 in system used by doctors and CNWL staff … is Team ABC in Finance system  James in patient system 1 is known as John in patient system 2  When a member of staff is leaving, deactivated from HR system… what about the IT system? Payroll system?  If a person gets married and change her name in local system… what about the name in HR, Finance and Incident reporting?  Previously:  Costly connections between systems, heavy maintenance  Manual process: paper forms, calls

Benefits of all this? Change management application:  One central system containing complete, accurate and clean data for dimensional data:  Patient  Staff  Team  No discrepancy in between source systems data  No duplicates within system  Duplicates across system mapped to a single golden record  Data quality for patient, staff and team dimensional data on source systems (JADE, EPEX, ESR,Sunrise, DATIX, EFIN, SAPPS, TEAM, Trustnet, CNWL website) improving significantly!  And finally, efficiency in creating accurate reports about patient, staff and team from the new data warehouse reporting interface
