7 How Global Issues in Context supports the standard: The foundational economic principle of scarcity comes alive in GIobal Issues in Context by allowing students to see tangible, current examples of this abstract principle. Students can do more than a simple keyword search for “global warming.” Rather, they can browse the Energy Efficiency, Global Warming, or Emissions Trading issue portals and be presented with information that illustrates the trade-offs between our current consumption levels and environmental quality. Teachers can use this information to discuss opportunity costs, effective use of resources, and economic incentives. Appropriate for grades 6-12 For example…. Related Issue Portals Energy Efficiency Global Warming Emissions Trading
