Students can investigate and apply this information to their own lives. When you play a radio show for your students, it is like having an expert speaker in your classroom without all the planning. 7. Using Radio Shows in the Classroom Play a 90 second radio show to peak students’ interest in the topics you are teaching. You can choose from 30 different categories on the Earth & Sky Teacher’s website to find many shows related to specific issues. Students can listen to the shows or you can print the transcripts for them to read. In Earth & Sky radio shows that answer specific questions, play only the question … and ask kids to think about the answer. Then play the whole radio show, with both the question and answer, before class ends. PLT PreK-8 Guide Activity 84: The Global Climate Activity Overview: Using data collected from Mauna Loa, students will graph changes in atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) over a 46-year period, and identify possible reasons for those changes.
