Overview of Older Workers Beginning with people from age Baby Boom Generation –76 million people born between Will develop as a result of: –Changes in retirement patterns and trends –Changes in life expectancy

Workforce Trends Response to aging population as a whole : In 2004, the labor force age 55 and over was 15.6% and by 2014 this percentage is expected to reach 21.2%. In September 2009, the unemployment rate for the state of Illinois was 10.5%. The unemployment rate for people age 65 and older reached 7% at the national level.
