Structure of the Church Established by our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and continues by the laying on of hands through Apostolic succession of Bishops for the past 20 centuries. We are a daughter Church of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Just as the Holy Trinity is Triune—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—our Church in America is also triune—Archdiocese, Metropolis, and Parishes. 300 Million Orthodox world wide.

Clergy-Laity Congresses The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America makes administrative and financial decisions at its Clergy-Laity Congresses (CLC), held every two years. Each parish is represented by 4 voting delegates (1 priest and 3 lay people). According to the Regulations, all parishes shall abide by the decisions of the CLC irrespective of whether they send representatives. Archdiocesan Council is the legislative body between Clergy-Laity Congresses.

National Ministries Allocation System The 2006 Clergy-Laity Congress passed this new formula to fund the Archdiocese, Metropolises and Ministries, as well as Missions and Outreach. The allocation system reflects a percentage of ongoing parish operating expense, after allowable deductions, and levels the playing field across the Nation and the Metropolis.
