WELCOME TO WORSHIP SUNDAY 23 stsimonspartick.org.uk Tue night talks on website RACIAL JUSTICE SUNDAY IN UK

ENTRY PROCESSION All glory to God the Father of all to the Son and the Spirit give praise. The love of our Lord will temper our shame the grace of the Gospel direct. Our faith is the shield to cover our pride and our spiritual sword will protect. O circle us now with love and with peace our strength and our guide Lord we pray we have nothing to fear when you are so near you are Lord of the night and the day.

PENITENTIAL RITE Kyrie eleison x3 Christe eleison x3 Kyrie eleison x3 Greek: Lord/Christ/Lord have mercy

THE WORD All the readings until Advent are based on the first and shortest Gospel : MARK

OLD TESTAMENT ISAIAH Be strong, fear not.

Psalm 146: Response Praise the Lord who heals our wounds

EPISTLE JAMES 2. 1 – 7 Judging people by what they wear

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Alleluia

GOSPEL MARK Jesus can make even the deaf hear

APOSTLES’ CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL In response to the Gospel anyone may try and say a prayer, ending: Lord in your mercy….. Missal suggests 4 intentions That our church might….. That our society might….. That our parish might….. At this special time we might.. PLEASE NOTE: these prayers are for us here. Those who are absent (the poor, refugees, sick, dead etc) should be remembered at the “memento” during the Eucharistic prayer

There is no plate collection here unless for a previously intimated good cause. If you wish to support your place of worship you should do this through your bank or the envelope system. Forms in sacristy. Box at back for visitors’ donations. Pray that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God the Almighty Father May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy church

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER The Lord be with you And with your spirit Lift up your hearts We lift them up to the Lord Let us give thanks to the Lord our God It is right and just PREFACE TO THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

SANCTUS (Old tune, new words) Holy holy holy (pause) Lord God of hosts Heaven and earth are full of your glory Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highes t

PROCLAMATION OF FAITH We proclaim your death O Lord and profess your resurrection until you come, until you come, until you come again.

GREAT AMEN

THE LORD’S PRAYER If English is not your first language you are encouraged to say this prayer in the language in which you first learned it

Agnus Dei qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis (x2) Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us Agnus Dei qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem ……grant us peace. Please kneel

Behold the Lamb of God, behold Him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Communion Chant The Spirit of the Lord is now upon me to heal the broken heart and set the captives free, to open prison doors and make the blind to see: the Spirit of the Lord is now upon me.

El Greco: Jesus heals

Christ is our king, let the whole world rejoice May all the nations sing out with one voice Light of the world you have helped us to see that we are all neighbours and all will one day be free He came to open the eyes of the blind letting the sunlight pour into their mind vision is waiting for those who have hope He is the light of the world. He came to open the lips of the mute letting them speak out with courage and truth his words are uttered by all those who hope He is the light of the world.
