What is Quality Management in e- Learning (VOPLA) project? Goals: to support and enhance e-learning quality assurance in Finnish universities to develop the expertise and commitment of staff in improving e-learning quality Actions: to produce a Quality Manual (guidebook) for e-learning to offer guidelines for quality in e-learning

Who is Quality Manual for? The Quality Manual is targeted widely to the stakeholders involved in e-learning in higher education. The main target groups are Educational organizations the directors who are responsible for strategic management in learning in higher education teachers and content providers who are responsible for planning and implementing e-learning and online materials e-learning support staff, who guide and support the departments, teachers and content providers in their effort in developing e-learning.

What is Quality Manual (QM)? Roadmap to e- learning quality Set of four Quality Handbooks, which contain guiding materials for quality improvement assurance Online Courses Online Resources Online Support Learning Organisation

The Quality Handbooks includes steps into building e-learning quality management systems aspects of e-learning quality (quality matrices with questions) Managemenet Skills Resources Processes Evaluation / assessment some quality criteria examples of process descriptions for e-learning evaluation measures and indicators for e-learning links to other quality materials.

How can Quality Manual be used? - examples The QM can be used in various ways, and can be adapted to suit the purposes of the users, e.g. a teacher can follow the step- by step approach to improve his/her e- learning quality Describe present state of his/her e-learning Build up quality by adapting the contents to suit his/her purposes Maintain and develop quality of e-learning systematically and continuously

Why is Quality Manual useful? – a summary It is a collection of information on e- learning quality It offers a step-by-step approach to quality improvement It can be adapted to suit different needs and stakeholders
