Language barriers and the scarcity of information opportunities are complicating access. filmarchives online … is the result of the MIDAS project (Moving Image Database for Access and Re- use of European Film Collections). … provides access to moving image collection information of 18 European archives … allows the search in content descriptions and other metadata of archival databases. … focuses non-fiction material.

MEDIA Plus Pilot Project MIDAS ( ) Still… …most film materials which can be found in filmarchives-online are not yet digitised …information about rights holders is scarce (at best) …information about terms of use and available licenses for individual titles is scarce (at best) …users need to identify, write and talk to various individuals and organisations before they can use the content …progress in standardisation and documentation in film archives during the last 4 years is not reflected on filmarchives- online
