© Copyright 2009 EPGYSlide #2 What is LA&W  Stanford’s Language Arts and Writing Program is a web-based computer course that allows students to work on an individualized basis.  LA&W uses the same website and the same usernames and passwords that are currently being used with Stanford Math. This makes the transition relatively seamless for students.

© Copyright 2009 EPGYSlide #3 Who Will Use It? Students needing Language Arts intervention, in grades 2 and up. Students who have been identified by either formative assessment data (TCAP) or by their Classroom teacher as a Tier II or Tier III student.

© Copyright 2009 EPGYSlide #4 Priority of Use Dr. Ss Grades 2-6  Tier II  Tier III  All Students

© Copyright 2009 EPGYSlide # Recommended Use 2 – 3 Sessions Per Week Each session is set at 20 minutes just like on Stanford Math. Example: 2 sessions per week on the LA&W program would equal 40 minutes of total usage per week. This is not to take away from the 90 minutes a week in Math. 5

© Copyright 2009 EPGYSlide #6 Curriculum Overview The course is intended for students who are reading at grade level in grades 2-6 Peer tutoring will come in handy if you have a student who is not reading on at least a 2nd grade level. By default all students begin 1 grade level below their actual grade level. (Except 2 nd grade) Grade Levels can be adjusted.

© Copyright 2009 EPGYSlide #8 Course Motion Students demonstrating proficiency of a concept move through the sets at a faster pace than those demonstrating a need for additional practice. Students see fewer exercises when they answer exercises correctly on either of their first two attempts. When students answer exercises incorrectly, the program presents them again at a later time. This repetition is intentional.

The Review segment consists of exercises the student missed in the previous exercise sets. This reinforcement allows additional practice on concepts of difficulty.
